Mellissa Harris moved in to the now vacant director of the communications office until they could pick a new press secretary, she decided the best thing would just to wear both hats. The former occupants both resigned, so she was getting settled in.

In another part of the White House Sal began the morning with meetings, this one on the sudden resignation of his entire cabinet.

“So, they all resigned.”

“Yes sir.” His chief of staff, an old friend, Anthony Dipaolo, responded before snickering at his friend’s baleful glare. “Usually the formality is on a change of administration they submit their resignations.”

“True, but I wasn’t going enforce that, because of the circumstances.” Sal sighed, “Would any stick around.”

“No, the big argument is they think you should have your own advisors.” A pause, “Which I can’t argue against. How do we handle it?”

“No attacks, they cease fire we cease fire. Nothing but thank you for your service to this nation, I wish you the best, let Mel know.”

“SOunds good.” Anthony nodded, “Next…”

“Get the list of replacements ready I’d like to start interviews and vetting tomorrow.”

“We’ve already started.”

“Good, when you get them scheduled let me know.” Sal picked up a new folder, “Now….what’s next.”
